Job Description
The City of Viroqua Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a full-time Parks Supervisor. This position is a working supervisor and oversees parks maintenance staff in the summer (approximately 5 staff). This position also serves as a back-up to the Parks & Recreation Director when needed. The position provides overall supervision of general grounds maintenance activities to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and beauty of City parks, property, and recreation grounds (athletic fields, shelters, restrooms & playgrounds). Work includes the operation of trucks and other equipment. Working hours are typically 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to respond to snow events, occasional special events/tournaments, and/or other time sensitive matters related to park maintenance. Candidates must be physically able to perform the job duties.

Qualifications

• Post secondary experience in Natural Resources, Forestry, or Recreation Management, or related degree preferred.
• 2-4 years experience working in parks, landscaping, or related field.
• Supervisory experience/ Team leadership experience preferred.
• Certified Playground Safety Inspector and Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Certifications preferred.
• Position subject to 24-hour call-out as needed.
• Valid drivers’ license and CDL preferred.
