Parks Director Outagamie County
Job Description Key Responsibilities The following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Develops, administers and oversees the maintenance of the Outagamie County parks, buildings, and trails within the County park system.
- Oversee and participate in the development and administration of department budgets and capital improvement plan; approve the forecast of funds needed for the department, which may include but not limited to staffing needs, equipment, programs, etc.; and approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments.
- Employee Relations: Recruit, interview, train, evaluate, and supervise parks staff, which includes Full time, Part time and seasonal staff. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and growth.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long- term goals for the Outagamie County park system.
- Prepares designs and permit applications for park improvements.
- Collaborate with Community organizations and other County departments to enhance programs offered.
- Ability to prepare reports; edit, organize and present clearly and concisely, oral and written reports of finding and recommendations.
- Subject to a variety of schedules, which include a standard eight-hour work day plus a variety of meetings of committees: i.e. County Board Meetings and organizational group meetings which may be held during the evenings.
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research; attending seminars or educational workshops or conferences; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Business, Natural Resources Administration and Management or related field with five to seven years park management experience.
- Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and make sound decisions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
$106,808.00 - $120,203.20 Annually
